Curtains and blinds are one of the parts of the house which we often do not think about cleaning. They do end up getting pretty dirty though, so it is important to clean them every now and then! Blinds are relatively easy to keep clean – wooden and metal styles can be cleaned with a damp cloth with a little washing up detergent. You can keep dust at bay by gently shaking the blind every couple of days. Running a dry duster or feather duster over the surface of the blind can help too.
Curtains can be a little trickier to clean, as some fabrics are not washable and must be dry cleaned. You will need to read the care label attached to your curtains to find out how best to clean them. Take them down from the window and remove any curtain hooks before either washing in a washing machine or take to the dry cleaners. Some fabrics wash up well in a family washing machine, so you can do this to save money.
